Our care homes run a programme of regular events

Our homes cater to a wider variety of hobbies, interests and lifestyle choices to ensure that your new home is just that.

Our care homes run a programme of regular events and clubs, but it’s the bespoke activities service that we offer, based on client’s requests, that really brings the personalised element of our care to our daily events.

Our everyday routines are the foundations of who we are, and at Bloomcare we do everything we can to ensure that our clients continue to live in the way they choose to. Our homes cater to a wider variety of hobbies, interests, and lifestyle choices to ensure that your new home is just that.

We will plan daily events based on your preferences and ability, intended to supplement the unique activity programmes that each home offers. These activities encompass social events, entertainment, and cultural experiences, and we often conduct group visits to theatres, exhibitions or other local points of interest. Our dedicated lifestyle team works within each home to bring each client the personalised activities experience that we aim for, but we welcome clients to enjoy new experiences too. Our team members will work with you to put together plans for a bespoke living schedule.

Part of our Philosophy of Care is that activities and meaningful occupation should be the responsibility of all. From a day out walking in the countryside, to a hand doing your laundry, our team is here to make you feel at home.

Compassionate, Personalised Memory Care for Every Stage of Dementia

Residential Dementia Memory Care

Bloomcare sets the standard for memory care. We offer convenient on-site amenities, personalised services, life enrichment programs and resident centered health care in a professionally managed, access controlled, intimate home setting.

Dementia is not a normal part of ageing. It is an umbrella term for a group of symptoms that reflect progressive damage to the nerve cells within the brain with a number of different causes. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, more people are now being diagnosed with a combination of Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. We know that by building compassionate, trusting relationships, knowing the individuals’ biography, personality and life journey we can help people (and their families and friends who share the journey) to live enjoyable, stimulating and fulfilling lives. Families and friends form an important part of our relationships in these communities; we offer regular forums and education sessions to support and engage wider family and friends. Our care journey will start with us learning more about your life using our “About Me” folio and “How I like to spend my day”. This is just the start. We also build a lifestyle profile to ensure each day meets all aspects of the six senses framework which is uniquely personal to the person we care for.

The memory care program is designed for senior adults with cognitive impairments as a result Alzheimer’s or related dementia. We can accommodate residents with early, middle and late stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our caring team work with the resident’s families to complete the “Life History” assessment and develop an individualized care plan tailored around each resident’s habits, needs and preferences. Learning each resident’s special life story allows Bloom to engage in meaningful conversations and interesting activities that helps our residents Bloom!

Alzheimer’s and dementia does not stop a baker from wanting to bake, an artist from wanting to paint or a fisherman from wanting to fish. While some residents may have lost their short term memories, our mission, through our sensory-based programming, personalized services and resident centered care, 24-hour full calendar of activities, exercise programmes, is to stimulate the long term memories that remain intact allowing our residents to continue being who they have always been.

As the prevalence of people with dementia increases we naturally support many families on their journey with dementia. Our aim is to maintain a quality of life for each individual that reflects their personality and life choices, recognising the uniqueness of the person and responding to their individual needs with dignity and respect. Our philosophy of relationship centred care is all the more important in the communities where people live with dementia. Our approach is feelings-based to reflect the reality of the experiences of the people who live with us.

Our care teams receive extensive knowledge and skills development to help them feel confident with their additional communication and observational skills to support people we care for with dementia. We regularly conduct observational audits to continuously improve the quality of the lived experience for people living and working in our communities.

We are members of the Dementia Action Alliance reporting quarterly at a national level on our progress to meet our annual action plan to improve dementia care services, we have signed up to the national Dementia Pledge and are actively involved in a range of research projects with universities in England and Scotland to improve standards of dementia care nationally.

Mealtimes are an important part of daily life in Bloomcare homes

Nutrition

Everyone looks forward to a good meal, and we believe that nutritious, quality, home cooking is a central part of making our residents feel at home in their new surroundings? Mealtimes are an important part of daily life in Bloomcare homes, with our highly regarded chefs preparing a range of quality meal choices for our residents on a daily basis. But it’s not all about the food. The dining experience presents the perfect opportunity to sit, eat, and drink with our customers in a relaxed setting so that they leave each meal happily satisfied and with a full stomach!

All of our homes offer freshly cooked, appetising and nutritionally balanced meals as well as a different seasonal meal choice every day. Utilising fresh ingredients and an in-depth knowledge of our clients’ nutritional preferences and requirements, our chefs prepare a range of wholesome meals, all put together on site throughout the day.

These preferences are always taken into account when our chefs prepare their regular, bespoke four-week meal plans combining classic meals with traditional, regional cuisine and personal twists. Variety truly is the spice of life, so we try to keep things interesting when it comes to meals. We even hold regular, themed meal days and offer our residents the opportunity to get involved with the preparation of meals if they want.

We know how big an effect that nutrition and enriching mealtimes have on our residents and we are committed to making them a rewarding and enjoyable part of each day. In the mornings we offer a choice of cereals, toast, and both cooked and continental breakfasts. This is followed by a mid-morning offering of tea, coffee, and homemade snacks, biscuits and cakes. A range of wonderful hot and cold meals is offered at lunch, and an afternoon tea with homemade scones and cake is a highlight for most of our residents. In the evening, the chefs offer a wide variety of dinner options and evening and night-time snacks are always made available.
